About the Name
Samhain is the Gaelic celebration marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of the dark half of the year and is traditionally celebrated on the night of October 31st/November 1st. It is a threshold festival where the boundry between this world and the next are blurred, making contact with the spirits possible. Some modern Halloween customs can be traced back to this earlier festival.
